Job Description:
Job Summary:
Welds metal components together with brazing and a variety of arc
gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as
machined parts and plant equipment.
Primary Tasks:
Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine
specific welding requirements.
Welds metal components together using either gas welding, brazing,
or any combination of arc welding processes.
Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage,
slope, and pulse, as specified.
Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining the
length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of
fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, the sound of weld,
and size of molten puddle.
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
Repairs broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig
or fixtures
Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford, and flux, according to
welding chart specifications or type and thickness of the
material.
Tacks assemblies together.
Performs related tasks such as grinding and thermal cutting
Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
Cleans or de-greases parts.
Performs routine maintenance and repair on all equipment used in
welding.
Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of the
welding area.
All other duties assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.

Regularly required to stand for a period of 12 hours per day, four
days a week or more.

The employee will regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds,
frequently team lift and or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
