Job Description Under general supervision, purchases materials and supplies in support of the day-to-day operations of the City. Essential Job Functions * Creates and processes requisitions and issues purchase orders. * Resolves pricing and billing issues between Accounts Payable and Vendors. * Reviews various documents for details and accuracy. * Prepares quotes for goods and services needed in emergency and non-emergency situations. * Prepares surplus goods for City auctions. * Issues stock items to co-workers. * Reorders materials to maintain adequate inventory. * Communicates with vendors on daily basis getting part numbers, checking availability on parts and placing orders * Communicates with vendors, citizens, and co-workers to solve problems and respond to concerns. * Processes emergency orders as needed. * Investigates delinquent purchase orders. * Receives and re-issues delivered materials. * Issues and balances cash from the Petty Cash Account. * Assists in conducting warehouse monthly and year-end inventory. * Operates a fork-lift to load and unload materials. * Signs, mails, and distributes purchase orders. * Performs the duties of Purchasing Manager in his or her absence. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Ability to be bonded.
