About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities
Combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedure, and
implementation of tools and technology to facilitate a
physician/CNM performance in labor and delivery. Set up surgical
instruments and equipment and maintain sterility. Assist with
preparing patients for the operating room or delivery. Pass
instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and assist with
holding retractors and other instruments. Maintain inventory in all
delivery and operating rooms. Assist with clerical duties including
entering patient orders, maintaining the delivery log, and daily
patient census. Qualifications Job Requirements: Graduate of an
accredited Certified Surgical Technology program Must be certified
through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical
Assisting (NBSTSA) Active BLS certification 1-year of Labor and
Delivery Surgical Technologist experience
