Job Description:
Job SummaryTeaches Cherokee language classes focused on at-large
Cherokee Nation communities. Develops, implements, and teaches
Cherokee language curriculum for use in online and in-person
language classes for at-large communities. -Job DutiesOrganizes and
schedules classes for at-large communities for online and in-person
attendance. - Prepares teaching curriculum and lesson plans. - Uses
methodology and instructional techniques set by the Language
Services management. - Counsels students in regards to progress and
performance. - Prepares, maintains, and submits required reports,
student evaluations and other internal and external records. -
Prepares handouts, brochures, and/or booklets for classes. -
Operates audio/video and/or other language technology equipment. -
Other duties may be assigned. -SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - No
supervisory responsibility.QualificationsEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT -
Completion of Cherokee Language Master Apprentice Program if not a
first language Cherokee speaker; or two (2) years related
experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelors degree in Education or related field preferred but not
required. -EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT - An additional two (2) years of
experience in a related field. -COMPUTER SKILLS - An individual
should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing
software. - Experience with online classroom instruction and
software including, but not limited to, Zoom, WebEx, Google
Classroom, or any other similar platform. -CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,
REGISTRATIONS - Must possess a valid driver's license with a
driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets
the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. - Must be
a certified Cherokee Language Instructor as certified by the
Cherokee Nation Language Department or certified by Oklahoma State
Department of Education. -OTHER QUALIFICATIONSThe employee must not
be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department
of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG)
or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the
OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded
Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded
Individuals/Entities (LEIE). - Embraces and implements the
Jobs/Language/Community Cherokee Nation Strategy. -PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to
stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is
occasionally required to walk; sit; reach with ands and arms; climb
or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must
regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift
and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral visions, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus.
-WORK ENVIRONMENT -The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate. -THIS POSTION IS GRANT FUNDED AND CONTINGENT UPON
FUNDING AVAILABILITY
