Job Description:

Overview This position is a key component of a company that supplies materials for residential and commercial projects across multiple states. The role will be based in an office located in a port area and involves collaboration with various branches. The staff accountant will assist in the preparation of financial reports and support the Controller in ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Responsibilities Assist in monthly close processes, including the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Prepare and review financial statements for individual branch locations as well as for the consolidated group. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure transactions are recorded accurately throughout the organization. Conduct bank reconciliations across multiple accounts. Perform account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. Manage fixed assets, including tracking depreciation and disposal processes utilizing designated software. Analyze inventory levels and assess cycle count data for accurate reporting. Prepare and remit sales taxes to various jurisdictions. Prepare and submit property and real estate taxes in compliance with local regulations. Undertake any other assignments related to the financial and accounting functions of the organization. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations. Commitment to ongoing education and training to stay abreast of changes in the accounting field. Capability to analyze financial data and derive insights. Proficiency in accounting software and tools, particularly Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members to gather data and address issues. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years of relevant experience. Resourceful mindset with a strong attention to detail. CPA track preferred. Commitment to fostering a dynamic and positive workplace culture. Focus on continuous improvement and optimization.
